What is the reason for the dispute?
It is noteworthy that on Monday evening, a 70-year-old patient was killed in Seth Sukhlal Karni Memorial Hospital in Kolkata. The victim family had attributed the doctors to the patient’s death. He believed that due to the negligence of physicians this happened. Next day, dozens of motorbike riders reached the hospital the next day and they attacked the doctors on duty there. Not only this, the assailants beat the resident doctor so brutally that his head broke up and his condition remained serious.
After the incident, all the angry doctors went on strike and they believed that till they could not get full police protection during treatment, they would not return to work. In view of this, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a tough stand and ordered the doctors to return to work as soon as possible after the strike was over.
